Battlefield 2042 has only just launched for those who buy into the game early (you can read out review-in-progress here), and players already have a wishlist of changes for Cube to follow out. Chief among them, judging by BF2042's semiofficial subreddit, is a traditional in-halting scoreboard.

The scoreboard DICE cooked up for Battlefield 2042 designedly doesn't tell the full story of a match. Pressing Tab (away default) middle-match shows a ranking of every squad, including their kills, assists, and revives. IT doesn't show you the stats of individual players unless they're on your team and IT won't state you how many times someone has died.

Battlefield 2042's new scoreboard. Left: Squad stats. Right: Your stats. (Epitome cite: Cube)

Numerous vocal fans miss the traditionalistic scoreboard from past Field of battle games that broadcasted all player's kills, deaths, rack up, and ping for all to see. "Why living out something so simple and textbook all told shooters? I like to see my personal stats, stats of the squad, total stats, if teams are balanced. Delight bring this SIMPLE feature back," wrote substance abuser where-ya-headed on Reddit.

"How number they remove[d] one of the about used feature[s] of the Battlefield games?" said At0m11c.

Redditor xEu20Matar is so fed up, they'atomic number 75 holding Battlefield's cunning teensy penguins hostage until a classic scoreboard arrives.

It is a little weird to play a Battlefield game that gives you so bantam information about the other players on the server, but it seems like DICE is hard to deemphasize individual performance to encourage teamwork and deter harassment based on performance. Text Old World chat can on a regular basis get nasty astir instrumentalist performance in games like CS:GO, Rainbow Six Siege, and Valorant. Battlefield 2042's scoreboard is essentially toxicity-cogent evidence, at to the lowest degree outside of squads. In the normal Conquest mode, pressing Tab only if shows three neutral operating theater sensationalism stats about your squad—kills, assists, and revives. You throne still see a complete list of players on the server from the hesitate menu, but only the three teammates on your team can see your individual stats, the rest just control the cite of your team.

With this layer of bemusement, there's non much for players to plain about. A fed up squadmate could decide to give you a rough sledding most your kill count, but without a death count Oregon kill/death ratio to back them up, thither's little statistical ammo to abuse to each one other with.

Concealment individualized stats may as wel have the desired effect of encouraging much teamplay in Battlefield, a team up-supported series that can often feel individualistic in exercise. Without a host-side leaderboard to stand at the top of, we might get fewer snipers attractive pot shots from hilltops for the entire match.

Overwatch has a similar system that I envisage DICE looked at when making Battleground 2042. Blizzard's scoreboard doesn't surface any another participant's various stats, just your own (though perniciousness is shut up rampant thanks to the Metallic/Flatware/Bronze medal system).

I'm non sure how nasty Battlefield 2042 would get with a more open scoreboard. In my see, Battlefield players tend to ignore the overall match and focus on themselves. I can't recall any instances of getting harassed all over my team contributions. In my eyes, goofing off has always come with the territory in Battlefield. I'm sure harassment does happen, though, and I appreciate that Cube is taking player behavior in earnest. I've seen some players similarly deplore BF2042's miss of an wholly-claver channel, but I won't miss randos having a fit to the other team concluded getting sniped.

I can understand with the desire to compare yourself against 127 other players. Even if I rarely break into the top 5, the compulsion to hit TAB and date if I'm the best is virile. It feels goodness to get on top! Perhaps DICE leave come across a vast enough demand to score IT happen, or maybe players will stop caring and amaze wont to the new scoreboard in a hebdomad.

Right now, I'd go down for a Battlefield 2042 that works: The game's having some grave server issues on launch day, although the office appears to comprise improving.
